How It Works

Remi finds return deadlines in your email so you never miss one. Here's exactly what happens — and what doesn't.

How Remi protects your privacy

When you connect your inbox, here's the exact pipeline every email goes through:

    Pre-filter

    The subject line and sender are checked against delivery keywords. Grocery, meal kit, and food delivery emails are excluded automatically. About 95% of emails are rejected here. The body is never opened.

  2. 2

    AI classification

    Only emails that pass the filter get a truncated 3,000-character snippet sent to AI. The AI returns structured data — retailer, order number, dates, and confidence score.

  3. 3

    Store the date, discard the email

    Only the AI output is saved — retailer name, order number, delivery date, and return deadline. The email content is never stored anywhere.

  4. 4

    Encrypted at rest

    Stored order metadata and OAuth tokens are AES-256-GCM encrypted. The database uses row-level security so no one else can access your data.

Frequently asked questions

Can Remi read my emails?
No. Remi scans subject lines for delivery keywords — about 95% of emails are rejected at this step and the body is never opened. For the small number that pass, AI sees a truncated snippet and returns structured data (retailer, order number, dates). Only that data is stored. The email content is discarded immediately.
What data does Remi store?
Retailer name, order number, return deadline, and delivery date — that's it. We never store email content. OAuth tokens used to access your inbox are encrypted with AES-256-GCM.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. One-click account deletion from Settings removes everything permanently within 30 days.
What email access does Remi have?
Read-only. We request gmail.readonly (Google) or Mail.Read (Microsoft). Remi cannot send, delete, or modify your emails. You can revoke access anytime from your Google or Microsoft account settings.
Does Remi track grocery or food deliveries?
No. Remi tracks returnable retail purchases only. Grocery deliveries, meal kits, and restaurant/food delivery orders are automatically excluded because perishable items do not have return windows.
